Recently, prefabricated construction methods have been gaining significant attention, particularly in developed nations. This innovative approach is being utilized not only for residential homes but also, to a limited extent, in the construction of semiconductor factories—the very pinnacle of cutting-edge technology.
Why is this happening?

Above all, prefabrication allows for rapid, standardized, and mass-scale production. Because the core manufacturing takes place in a controlled, centralized facility rather than a sprawling construction site, it is highly eco-friendly and minimizes the environmental impact on the surrounding areas.

I personally have about six months of experience working at a Precast Concrete (PC) factory in South Korea. In fact, SK Hynix’s semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Korea built their structural foundations using the PC method. The equipment installed inside a semiconductor plant is incredibly heavy, demanding that the concrete possess exceptional, uniform strength. This high level of structural uniformity is best achieved when the components are manufactured under the strict quality control of a factory environment. Most importantly, since the parts are pre-made in a factory, the overall construction speed is vastly accelerated.
These distinct advantages translate perfectly into residential home construction.
When building homes with identical or similar blueprints, prefabricated construction is not only exceptionally fast, but it also eliminates weather dependencies. Manufacturing indoors means production can continue seamlessly regardless of rain or snow. Furthermore, because the building materials are never exposed to rain or snow during the critical fabrication phases, it completely eradicates moisture-related structural issues during construction.
We are now entering a new era of construction methodology. Driven by its eco-friendly advantages, its potential to alleviate housing shortages, and its highly reasonable pricing, prefabricated construction must be widely adopted by a broader consumer base.
